One of our favorite family stories happened years ago when my daughter was around the age of 5. We were headed to her friend’s birthday party and I put the gift we were taking in a gift bag on our dining room table. I asked my daughter to go upstairs and grab some tissue to help me finish the wrapping. She did and grabbed the gift as we headed out the door.

Once we were at the party and it was time to open the gifts, I saw my daughter excitedly waiting for her friend to open her present from us. The birthday girl looked puzzled when she reached in the bag and pulled out handfuls of toilet paper. I stood there shocked and then began to laugh. My daughter didn’t know tissue paper and toilet tissue were different products!

Two other very different products are toilet paper and Kleenex. It’s the time of year when sickness abounds and while toilet paper will suffice for a stuffy nose, Kleenex is a much more comforting choice. If you want to spoil your family or a friend who is feeling under the weather, a nice box of tissues is a great start! Below you’ll find some of our other favorite ways to care for friends with a cold or the flu.

  1. *One of my best tips is to not put the pasta in your broth when the broth is still hot. This will over cook your already cooked pasta and it will fall apart. Adding your pasta to cooled broth works perfectly. If your friend needs a gluten-free soup, rice is a great substitute.
