Recently, I was reading through a discussion where someone who was grieving mentioned a thoughtful gift she received, and now, she does the same for her own friends.

When this person lost her husband, lots of people brought her flowers. She certainly wasn’t complaining, but she was especially grateful for the friend who gave her a vase. The vase served two purposes. First, it was a reminder of her husband, but also practical. It gave her a place to enjoy all of the beautiful flowers she was receiving from loved ones.

I love this idea and plan to keep it in mind for the next time I take a meal to a grieving friend. When my dad died, an out-of-town friend shipped me flowers and a vase was included. I still think of her and my dad when I pull it out.

Here are two vases I found that would add a personal and lovely touch. One tip I’ve learned is that non-glass vases really elevate flowers because you focus on the flowers instead of the stems and they can sit out when not in use (and still be lovely).

This vase would be such a nice choice because it could sit out with or without flowers.

This vase is more neutral, but beautiful as well.

This vase is pretty, neutral, and budget-friendly.

Another idea would be to include a gift certificate to a local florist along with your vase. This would give your friend the option to buy flowers later in the year when they need a little lift.

I’d love to know what you think of this idea! Even though it’s simple, it really resonated with me because it’s both thoughtful and practical.

Warmly,
Adina
