Megan Alexander with her magazine, Cut & Paste

A few years ago, my friend, Rachel (who is the inspiration behind Take Them A Meal), told me about her daughter Megan’s business idea. As soon as I heard about it, I loved the concept and was happy to support Megan’s (successful) Kickstarter.

Megan is the creator of Cut+Paste Magazine, a publication that is unlike any magazine you’ve seen before. Each issue is built around a theme, and artists from around the world submit original artwork for consideration. The selected pieces are printed on beautiful, high-quality paper with very little text.

What I love most is that the magazine is meant to be used. Some pages are full-page works of art, while others are smaller pieces that can be framed, used in a journal, turned into postcards or bookmarks, incorporated into a creative project, or even used as wrapping paper. It's designed to inspire creativity and help people interact with art in a tangible way.

Last month, Megan announced an exciting milestone! Her Cut+Paste Magazine will soon be available in many Barnes & Noble stores across the country. As someone who has watched this idea grow from the beginning, I couldn't be more proud! Rachel passed on her own creativity to her children and it’s brought me such joy to see them using it as young adults.

I had to go to our local Barnes & Noble to get one for myself!

This magazine would make such a thoughtful gift for someone going through a difficult season. Sometimes something beautiful to enjoy is what’s needed. A subscription could encourage a creative friend who is grieving, recovering from an illness, or adjusting to a new chapter.

You might even find inspiration for caring for others. Frame a favorite piece for a friend, use a page to wrap a small gift, or send one of the postcard designs in the mail with a note of encouragement.

If you or someone you know is artistic, consider submitting artwork for a future issue. We all know creative people who could use a little encouragement to share their gifts!

One of the things I love most about Take Them A Meal is that caring for people doesn't always have to look the same. Sometimes it's a meal. Sometimes it's a handwritten note, or simply giving someone something beautiful that inspires creativity and hope.

Warmly,
Adina
