We’ve noticed that Take Them A Meal tends to slow down a little bit during the summer as people tend to use this time to enjoy their favorite vacation spot or spend more time with family and friends. For others, however, this summer will look very different as they find their days impacted by loss, grief, and illness. If you hear of a friend who is struggling, here are five thoughtful ways you can brighten up their day in just five minutes.

Mail a Card

It only takes a few minutes to write out a message and pop a pretty card in the mail.

Send a Voice Message

I have two friends who regularly send me voice messages and it’s so much more meaningful than a text or email. I love hearing their voices, especially when they have something funny to share! If you’ve never sent a voice message, here are iPhone instructions (or Android instructions) - it takes less than 1 minute to learn.

Drop Off Cut Up Fruit

When you are buying fruit for yourself, buy a little extra. Wash it, cut it up, and drop off a little bit of summer to your loved one’s front door.

Text While You’re at the Store

Send a quick text to your friend when you’ve parked at the store, letting him or her know you are  headed in and would like to pick up anything that he or she would need..

Order DoorDash or Send a Meal

Take care of dinner by sending a DoorDash card or have a meal delivered by Take Them A Meal. Our meals arrive frozen, making it easy for your friend to reheat the meal whenever they need an easy dinner. We prepare our meals with fresh, local ingredients from the Shenandoah Valley and can ship them all over the United States.

No matter which idea you choose, remember that caring for someone doesn't have to take a lot of time. Sometimes five minutes is all it takes to remind a friend they aren't alone.

Warmly,
Adina
