Now that my youngest is in college, the days of putting together teacher gifts are mostly behind me. Over the years, I’ve learned to trust the advice of those who have been there, and almost every teacher I know says the same thing. Gift cards and consumable items are their favorite end-of-year gifts. A handwritten note from the student or parent is always appreciated as well.
These kinds of gifts also make perfect pick-me-ups for a friend because they are something simple you can drop off to let her know you’re thinking of her.
I recently read about someone who really appreciated when her friend dropped off a half gallon of lemonade on her porch. Such a small gesture, but it made her day! This reminded me of one of our go-to teacher gifts that is so easy to put together. Easy is what you need in May!
In a bright bag, I would include a bottle of pink lemonade, SPF lip balm, and a few cheerful coasters. The best part is you can find most of these items wherever you are shopping. like big box stores, grocery stores, or pharmacies.
If you’re really short on time, a simple drop-off works just as well. I have a friend who loves Chick-fil-A lemonade, and it makes the perfect summer surprise. You could also pair a Chick-fil-A gift card with a note suggesting they treat themselves to a lemonade.

Even one of these items with a little thank you or “have a great summer” note is sure to brighten someone’s day!

An inexpensive way to dress up a meal is to use baskets or tea towels to carry items. Kelli recently made four loaves of sourdough bread and took three of them to my family and neighbors. See how she packaged them using a kitchen towel!
