Looking for a fun excuse to gather with friends and family? Host a Sunday Swap! It’s a simple get-together where everyone brings enough of one favorite item to share with the group. By the end of the gathering, everyone leaves with a basket full of new favorites. I thought it’d be fun to share a few easy steps to help you host your own. And despite the name, you can host one any day of the week!

Step 1: Invite Your Guests

Start by deciding who you’d like to invite and how many people you’d like to include. Then ask each guest to bring enough of one favorite item for everyone attending.

To keep everything organized, create a free sign-up sheet using our sister site, Perfect Potluck. It’s an easy way for guests to reserve what they’re bringing ahead of time, so everyone arrives with something different and no one ends up bringing the same favorite thing.

Step 2: Choose Your Favorite Thing to Share

Now comes the fun part! Decide on one favorite item to bring and make enough for everyone attending. It can be homemade, homegrown, or simply something you love and want to share.

Here are a few ideas to get you started:

* Flavored olive oil or seasoning blends

* A favorite coffee or tea

* A candle you love

* A favorite hand lotion or skincare product

* Local honey or homemade granola

Choose something you’d be excited to receive yourself. The more thoughtful and personal it is, the more fun the swap becomes!

Step 3: Set Up & Enjoy!

If you’re hosting the swap, set everything out on a table so guests can easily browse each item. A simple tablecloth, fresh flowers, or handwritten signs can make it feel like a little pop-up market.

Then, relax and enjoy the gathering! Spend time catching up, sharing stories, and once everyone has arrived, invite guests to pick one of each item to take home.

Hosting Tip: Before your gathering, stop by a few local thrift stores and pick up inexpensive baskets for each guest. That way each guest gets to leave with a basket full of their new favorites!
