This photo was NOT staged. All of these items are used regularly and LOVED by my college student.
Sometimes when I’m thinking about what to write for the newsletter, I’ll ask a friend or family member for ideas. I asked my daughter this week, and she suggested I write about our favorite college dorm room finds.
I laughed at first because it didn’t seem like a relevant topic. As she started listing her favorite purchases from last year, I realized her idea actually fits perfectly.
All of our favorite dorm purchases were intended to make her room feel cozy, comfortable, and easy to use, the kinds of things you might want to give a friend who is recovering at home or spending time in a hospital room.
Here are a few of our favorites:
Wall Shelf
This shelf was perfect for holding her phone and other essentials next to her bed. It comes with mounting tape, or you can use Command strips. Hang it near an outlet and your phone can even charge while it's resting on the shelf.
Outlet Adapters
This outlet adapter made it easy to plug in and charge multiple devices. If your room is short on outlets, this version with an extra-long cord is especially helpful. You can never have too many outlets!
"Husband" Pillow
We’ve always thought this was such a funny name for a pillow, but being able to sit up comfortably in bed whether you're in college or recovering from surgery really matters. We’ve bought several of these from Target.
Yogibo also makes a version we really like that comes in lots of fun colors, although it's a bit more of an investment.
Warmies
My daughter loved having one of these in her room. They're filled with lavender, and when you warm them in the microwave, the scent is so calming. She chose Snoopy, but they make just about every animal (or object) you can imagine.
Lavender Room Spray
We use this at home, and my daughter took a bottle to her dorm as well. You can never have too much calming lavender, and this one is especially nice.
Whether you're helping a child settle into a dorm room, putting together a care package for someone recovering from a recent surgery, or simply making your own space a little cozier, it's often the small comforts that make the biggest difference.
I'd love to hear about your favorite dorm room or recovery essentials. Leave a comment and let us know what you'd add to the list!
Warmly,
Adina

The Brand Behind the World's Best Kitchens Just Launched Cast Iron
You've probably seen Made In Cookware® by now. They're the cookware brand used in 4,000+ professional kitchens, including 100+ Michelin-starred restaurants, and adopted by millions of home cooks.
Well, they just dropped a full cast iron collection. And they did it differently.
Where most cast iron has a rough, pebbly cooking surface, Made In machined theirs smooth. That means better searing, easier food release, and cleanup that doesn't require a degree. Every piece is cast, machined, and seasoned in the USA, oven-safe to 900°F, and compatible with all heat sources, including open flames. This is heirloom cookware, built to be the last cast iron you ever buy.
Their Cast Iron Skillets are where most people start: perfect for frying eggs, searing steaks, or getting that smashburger crust.
